I don't know jack diddily about engines- are those figures: heat generated while moving/heat dissipated at all times, and what exactly IS stall resistance? could someone explain, and if need be, put in the wiki?--The Buttery Lobster 12:05, 21 November 2007 (PST)

alright, i finally figured out what the heat numbers mean thanks to angry. So shouldn't those heat numbers be as follows: Heat Dissipated while Idle/Heat Dissipated while moving? afaik the old page had three numbers, idle, max, and dissipating.--The Buttery Lobster 15:23, 26 November 2007 (PST)
Yeah, there's heat generated while idle, heat generated while at max throttle, and heat dissipated. Stalling looks to occur when one of three thresholds are hit, which are percentage of armour lost, percentage of health lost, and heat. I'm going to add these thresholds to the article. Heat dissipated while idle/Heat dissipated while moving sounds like a good idea to me, since all engines generate 1 heat when idle currently, so idle/max/dissipated is redundant. I'm going to try to add a description of the implications of each engine as well instead of just a brief description, e.g. bio-diesel will only stall if heat hits 1.2, which as far as I can tell means you'd have to either fire a weapon generating massive heat when already almost at max, or get hit by plasma to stall it. The armour and health thresholds are 200% so presumably you'll die before it stalls due to damage. Scikar 11:37, 6 December 2007 (PST)
Edit finished, I updated some of the star ratings I felt were a bit off while I was there. Biggest changes are to fission and bio diesel engines - note that the previous description of fission was completely wrong, it provides the lowest horsepower of all engines except standard, but has a high top speed, and only generates high heat while moving, offsetting this with lots of heat dissipated. Can someone put a description for horse power? What does horse power means in game? [User:Pedro]

Someone should write some more crap at the top there. --Arklansman 23:52, 1 July 2007 (EDT)

Does it have to be relevant to Empires? I could cite a section of the Spring '07 Issue of Political Science Quarterly; they have an interesting article addressing the effectiveness of counterproliferation on counterterrorism.--The Buttery Lobster 00:17, 2 July 2007 (EDT)

I changed this to be the first appendix to use a star rating system. I think it works, but do we really still need all these figures hanging about? If people really want them they can always refer to the script files, and for most new players they can only be confusing. I guess it comes down to whether we want this to be a user guide, or a technical manual. -- Broccoli 09:23, 5 September 2007 (EDT)

My god that is horribly confusing. --Arklansman 17:51, 5 September 2007 (EDT)
